YOU MAY BE WONDERING: DO I NEED HEADSHOTS?

It seems to be a thing from the past… Who actually bothers to have photos taken? STOP. THINK FOR A WHILE …

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD SOMEONE SAYING:YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION IS YOUR LAST ONE?

Well, it’s not just a saying, it’s actually true. Studies have shown that people form lasting opinions within moments of meeting you. And unfortunately, 55% of that opinion is based on appearance alone.

It seems unfair to be judged like this, but since you know it, you can turn it to your advantage. Think about it for a while, we live in times where everything is online and that means you can  have a lot of control over your own first impression.

We all have an online presence, wether we’re aware of it or not. Our social media, LinkedIn profiles, and maybe even blogs or websites.  We can control how we position ourselves in those spaces or we can leave it to the chance – but whatever we choose, it says something about us. The studies I mentioned above helped me understand how crucial it is for us to have photos of ourselves that best represent how we want to be perceived.

I don’t know about you, but after I click on a website, I immediately go to the “About” page. Doesn’t matter if I look for my family doctor candidate,  check on business owner my friend told me about or research yoga instructor I’m going to have a lesson with.

I want to see the real person behind the business, I want to know who I’m working with! And I look at their headshot. Often times, it’s friendly and inviting, which is perfect. But now and then I see a photo that is more of a snapshot. Maybe the lighting isn’t right or the person is squinting at the camera or standing at a weird angle or the outfit is overpowering the face.

Something is off and it doesn’t convince me that I’m dealing with a professional.

IN THE NEW WORLD OF SOCIAL MEDIA  AND ONLINE MARKETING YOUR IMAGE IS EVERYTHING!

Your headshot can make or break an impression, so here are some hints I can give you:

5 “NO”s WHEN IT COMES TO HEADSHOTS

  • too much make up or make up that would work well for Saturday party
  • flashy jewellery that doesn’t suit your personality
  • outift that overpowers you or make you look like you’re wearing a costume
  • drastic changes of your haircut the day before the shoot
  • you’re not recognisable – if you always wear curly hair don’t straighten it up

WHAT YOU WANT IS

  • make up that accentuates your features
  • most genuine smile
  • style & personality that only you have
  • sending friendly & inviting vibes, so that people want to know more about you and your work
  • be yourself – the way you feel and look your best

These hints are the perfect start to get you ready for your next headshot session and can learn more and book your shoot here.
